Meeting the Nutritional Needs of People with Diabetes: Enzymatic Therapy’s alpha betic® Nutritional Supplements
DENVER -- OCTOBER 18, 2009 — While research shows that diet and exercise are beneficial to people living with diabetes,
it may not be enough; and therefore additional nutritional support from specially formulated supplements may be needed.
According to Frederic Vagnini, MD, technical advisor to Enzymatic Therapy®, medical director of The Heart Diabetes &
Weight Loss Centers of New York in New York City and author of the new book The Weight Loss Plan for
Beating Diabetes (Fair Winds Press, October 2009), “I cannot stress enough the importance of complete
and balanced nutrition to my patients with diabetes and how even by just taking the right multi-vitamin,
a person’s entire nutritional picture can be dramatically improved.”
Enzymatic Therapy has developed the alpha betic family of supplements, formulated for the specific dietary needs of people with diabetes. With alpha betic, balanced and optimized nutritional support can be achieved easily and effectively. These supplements provide nutrients to help restore deficiencies often experienced by people with diabetes. The alpha betic family of products comes in four formulas, each specifically designed to address nutritional needs in several important categories of health.
Clinical evidence supports the fact that people with diabetes have strict and unique nutritional needs and should take a multivitamin to help supplement their normal dietary intake of essential nutrients. Research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine concludes that regular use of a multivitamin helps patients with diabetes maintain good health.
Advanced Multi-Vitamin (taken once daily): Provides nutritional support for cardiovascular health, eye and nerve function and antioxidant protection. Contains clinical doses of 23 essential nutrients including chromium, lutein and alpha lipoic acid.
Alpha Lipoic Acid
This special nutrient, which is a metabolic antioxidant, provides nutritional support for healthy nerve function and protection from damaging oxidative

Slow the Hands of Time with Enzymatic Therapy’s Anti-Aging Secret Weapon — Resveratrol-forte®
Resveratrol-forte
Red wine contains resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant that has been shown to support cells by reducing oxidative stress. Resveratrol-forte from Enzymatic Therapy® features the unique pairing of giant knotweed, French red wine grapes, and rutin to release the anti-aging power of red wine.
BOSTON, MA, SEPTEMBER 23, 2009 — Natural Products Expo East 2009— Enzymatic Therapy’s Resveratrol-forte delivers super antioxidant power.Made from select French red wine grapes, this high-potency rejuvenation formula fights back against the aging effects of free radicals and oxidative stress. Resveratrol-Forte’s unique formula contains rutin, a potent bioflavonoid. This clinically-studied plant compound possesses free radical scavenging activity and supports healthy collagen.Rutin is converted to quercetin in the body. Research suggests that the combination of quercetin and resveratrol provides more potent antioxidant support for the immune system than either compound alone.
Resveratrol-forte anti-aging antioxidant contains 100% pure trans-resveratrol, the most absorbable form of resveratrol. Better absorption means optimal anti-aging benefits. Plus it’s potent— one dose of Resveratrol-forte® contains as much trans-resveratrol as 80 bottles of red wine.
Healthy aging expert, Dr. Gaetano Morello, a Naturopathic Physician and member of the Enzymatic Therapy Scientific Advisory Board, recommends resveratrol widely to his patients concerned with healthy aging."† An important aspect of reducing the impact of the aging process is currently centered on siRT1, a longevity enzyme,” he explained. “It’s been shown that people consuming very low calorie diets have increased levels of this enzyme.”
“Studies show that resveratrol duplicates the effects of calorie restriction and activates this enzyme without cutting calories,” said Dr. Morello. “Resveratrol may also support anti-aging effects by reducing the development of new fat cells and boosting the metabolism or use of fat within existing fat cells. Needless to say, these results have caused a buzz in the medical community.”
Resveratrol-forte counters the effects of free radicals, shields the system from oxidative cell damage, speeds up cellular repair and supports a healthy heart.
Based on 125 mg trans-resveratrol dose, an average of 1.97 mg of trans-resveratrol per liter of red wine, and 750 mL bottle size.
Icelandic Men Have Highest Longevity in the World And Consume Over 10 Times More Omega-3s Than Americans
BOSTON, MA - OCTOBER 2008 - The health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids for heart, brain, skin, joints and immunity have been well established through research. Now, further validation comes out of Iceland, where cold water fish (omega-3) consumption is one of the highest in the world, and well over 10 times the annual U.S. consumption. Statistics just released show that Icelandic men have the highest longevity of any men on earth—around 79.4 years, and both men and women in Iceland consume an average of 90 kilos of cold water fish per year.
Americans consume only 7.36 kilos per year, according to statistics from 2005, and we have the biggest meat consumption vs fish compared to any European country, which bodes poorly for health and longevity.
Stocking up on omega-3s is the right idea. Higher intake of stable, natural fish oil is associated with reduced deaths from the two biggest killers in the U.S., cancer and heart disease.
But be careful of the omega-3 fatty acids you choose, warns international fish oil expert Tom Saldeen, M.D., Ph.D., author of All About Omega-3: The Vitamin from the Ocean (SwedeHealth Press). He identifies two critical factors that can either make or break fish oil in relation to its health benefits. “Freshness is key as rancid fish oils produce free radicals that can destroy important nutrients and actually cause damage to our bodies. Full spectrum fish oil is also essential,” he says. “Full spectrum means it’s bioidentical to the omega-3 fatty acid proportions found in both fish and humans.”
According to Dr. Saldeen, who has published over 400 scientific papers, mainly in cardiovascular medicine, the most clinically studied fish oil in the world is Eskimo-3 from Enzymatic Therapy, Inc. in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
“Eskimo-3 has no alterations, deletions, or spiking that would alter the oil from the form found in nature,” explains Cheryl Myers, Enzymatic Therapy’s VP Health Sciences. “Eskimo-3 has extraordinary purity; it is mercury, lead and pesticide-free, and has the highest freshness index of any major brand of fish oil. This shelf-stable formula is up to 10 times more stable than leading fish oil products and has no fishy taste or smell.”
Enzymatic Therapy (ETI) is committed to the sustainability of the planet's resources. Eskimo-3 fish oil is obtained only from non-endangered species of cold-water fish harvested from areas not subjected to over-fishing. ETI is North America’s leading manufacturer and distributor of over 200 dietary supplements and natural medicines. It is the first and only dietary supplement manufacturer that’s a drug GMP audited facility and also a certified organic processor.
