Richard S. Willis, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Willis comes to Pharmaca with 30 years of senior executive experience in distribution, manufacturing, e-commerce, media/publishing, retail and the retail service industries. In the last 15 years he has served as chairman, president and/or CEO of five separate businesses owned in partnership with private equity firms. Previously he was CEO and President of Speed Commerce, an omni-channel e-commerce solutions provider; Executive Chairman of Charlotte Russe; President of Shoes for Crews; Chairman and CEO of Baker & Taylor Corporation; Chairman, President and CEO of Troll Communications; and CEO of Bell Sports. Prior to that he served as CFO for three separate companies that he helped to take public.
Mr. Willis serves as the chairman of the audit committee on the board of directors for Tuesday Morning, and is on the board of directors for Shoes for Crews and Targus Corporation. He holds a BBA (1981) and an MBA (1982) from Baylor University, where he is currently serving his fourth term as Chairman of the Board of Regents.
Michael Kruteck, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Kruteck joined Pharmaca as CFO in January 2011. Prior to Pharmaca, Mr. Kruteck held senior finance roles at Molson Coors Brewing Company, Crocs, and some smaller privately owned companies. He possesses a broad finance background with specific experience in financing and recapitalizations, divestiture of non-core assets and investments, core treasury functions, supply chain, and financial planning and analysis. Mr. Kruteck received his MBA from the Garvin School of International Management (Thunderbird) and his BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Laura Coblentz, Vice President of Marketing and Innovation
Ms. Coblentz has been the Vice President of Marketing and Innovation at Pharmaca since September 2008. At Pharmaca, she oversees all marketing activity, including direct, digital and CRM programs to drive customer acquisition and engagement. Ms. Coblentz has more than 20 years of consumer packaged goods and specialty retail marketing experience and has worked for a number of leading brands in the natural products space. Prior to joining Pharmaca, she was Vice President of Marketing at Wild Oats Markets until the company was acquired by Whole Foods Market. In addition to her organic food experience, Ms. Coblentz has also led marketing initiatives for leading wine brands including Sutter Home Winery, the nation’s top-selling wine brand with retail sales of $450 million, and E&J Gallo Winery. Ms. Coblentz graduated cum laude from Brown University with a Bachelor’s degree in History. She also earned an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Studies from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.
Stu Gratz, Vice President of Pharmacy Operations
Mr. Gratz brings experience in operations, new market start-ups and marketing strategies to Pharmaca’s leadership organization. Before joining the company, he served for five years as the District Sales Manager for CVS Pharmacy. In this position, he was responsible for systems conversion and training for 130 Sav-On pharmacies in the Southern California market. Gratz previously developed the specialty pharmacy concept for CVS/ProCare for the West Coast and Hawaii region, along with overseeing all operational aspects. He has more than 25 years experience in the pharmacy business. Mr. Gratz received his pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science. He and his wife Connie live in Southern California.
Nancy Hoopes, Vice President Human Resources, Legal and Administration
Ms. Hoopes has more than 20 years of human resources management experience in the restaurant, natural foods, supplements and hi-tech industries. She has directed the training, recruiting, compensation and other human resource programs for two Fortune 500 companies. From 1996-2000, she was Vice President of Human Resources for Whole People and Amrion, Inc., a nutritional supplement manufacturer, and division of Whole Foods Market. Prior to that, she served as Director of Human Resources for CareerTrack Training and Vicorp Restaurants. She holds a degree in political science from the University of Colorado and an MBA in finance and accounting from Regis University. Ms. Hoopes also holds the certification of Senior Professional in Human Resources.
David Janowicz, Vice President of Merchandising
Mr. Janowicz has 30 years of experience in the food and drug store industry. Mr. Janowicz comes to Pharmaca from Supervalu, Inc. where he held the position of Corporate Merchandising Director in Health and Wellness. In this role, he was responsible for merchandising the Health and Wellness areas in all of the company’s 1,200 corporate-owned stores, as well as the 3,000+ independent retailers the company serviced. He served previously at Supervalu as the Merchandising Director in the General Merchandise and Seasonal categories. Prior to that, he spent 26 years with Albertson’s, American Stores and Jewel Companies holding management positions in merchandising, marketing and store operations. Mr. Janowicz holds a degree in Marketing with a minor in Business Administration and Economics from Illinois State University.
Don Summerfield, Vice President of Integrative Medicine
Mr. Summerfield has significant experience in the retail natural pharmacy and herbal medicine fields. From 1998 to October 2000, he served as president of Vancouver’s Finlandia Natural Pharmacy, Canada's oldest and largest natural pharmacy. Previously, Mr. Summerfield spent five years as Merchandising Director of Capers Whole Food Markets, in Vancouver. From 1990-1993, he was general manager for Finlandia Natural Pharmacy, having first started as a staff herbalist. Mr. Summerfield was an instructor with the Vancouver School Board and Wild Rose College of Natural Healing, also in Vancouver. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in ethics and commerce from the University of Windsor - Ontario, and received his training in herbal medicine through the Wild Rose College of Natural Healing, Dominion Herbal College, Vancouver, and the California School of Herbal Studies in Forestville, Calif.
Allison Adams, Vice President of Retail Store Operations
Ms. Adams came to Pharmaca with more than 20 years experience in the retail sector, including work at Gap, Inc., American Eagle Outfitters, Mimi Maternity and Fresh Produce. She has opened multiple stores, helped rebuild brands, and maximized profitability through streamlined operational procedures. Ms. Adams earned her B.S. in Fashion Merchandising from Western Michigan University.
