Barry Perzow, Co-Founder, CEO, Chairman - Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy - Barry Perzow has over 40 years of broad experience in retailing in the U.S., in his native Canada and in Europe. Prior to co-founding Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy in Boulder in November, 2000, Perzow was President of Capers Natural Food Markets. At Capers, he expanded a single store concept in West Vancouver to three large-format supermarkets and two natural restaurants, becoming Canada's most innovative and leading natural health retailer. In 1996, Capers merged with Alfalfas Markets of Colorado. In 1997, Wild Oats Community Markets acquired the Company and Perzow was responsible for managing the post-merger integration.
     In his earlier career, Perzow was President and General Manager of Oshawa Groups Hypermarket Mega-Store Food Division, developing 100,000 sq. ft. stores, based on a European model, throughout Ontario and Quebec. Prior to that he developed, owned and operated a seven-store chain of specialty supermarkets which were acquired by the Oshawa Group and converted into a 110-store IGA operation in Quebec under Perzow's leadership.
     Perzow's vision was to reinvent the neighborhood pharmacy by combining prescription and natural medicines under one roof with qualified practitioners who are able to address the full spectrum of health and wellness issues. He calls it Integrative Pharmacy.
     Perzow, and his founding partner, Dale Schwartz, were selected as the 2005 Ernst & Young Entrepreneurs of the Year for the Rocky Mountain region in the Retail and Manufacturing category. Perzow was recently named 2006 Esprit Entrepreneur, the Boulder Chamber of Commerce award for "having a concept for a business which includes vision fraught with risk and that incorporates a special sense of creativity." This Boulder award of distinction will be presented on October 24, 2006.

David Maher - Mr. Maher is the former vice chairman and Chief Operating Officer for American Stores Co. (which operated 1,700 locations under the Osco and Sav-on brands, among others), bringing 35 years of experience in the retail and health care industries to Pharmaca’s board. After graduating from the University of Iowa’s pharmacy program, Maher began his career as a retail pharmacist in 1963. Since then, he has been recognized as Retailer of the Year by the Institute of Retail Management at California State University, Chain Drug Retailer of the Year by Chain Drug Review, and was awarded the Arnold and Marie Schwartz Retail Drug Institute Man of the Year. Currently, Maher serves as chairman of the board of trustees for the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences and sits on the advisory board for the University of Iowa’s College of Pharmacy.

Gregory D. Scott - Mr. Scott joined Richard L. Scott Investments, LLC as the Managing Director, Private Equity in March 2000. Mr. Scott directs the private equity and growth capital investment activities of RLSI. He has completed transactions spanning a wide range of industries including manufacturing, retail, healthcare and technology. He serves on the boards of portfolio companies Continental Structural Plastics and Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, Inc. and previously served on the board of L.E. Technologies, LLC. In addition, he has worked extensively with several of the firm’s portfolio companies in various hands-on roles. His previous finance and consulting work experience includes stints at The Blackstone Group, McKinsey & Company and Merrill Lynch. Mr. Scott earned his BS with highest distinction from The Pennsylvania State University and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Herbert H. “Woody” Davis - Mr. Davis was an initial (Series A) investor in Pharmaca as well as a member of Pharmaca’s initial Board of Directors and initial legal counsel. After four years with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, he entered private law practice with Denver-based Rothgerber Johnson and Lyons LLP. Mr. Davis served as head of the corporate, securities and tax departments and was a member of its executive committee during his 23 years with the firm. Most recently, he was EVP and General Counsel for Econergy International PLC., a company engaged in the development of alternative energy projects primarily in Latin America. Mr. Davis’s experience in the retail/service sector includes managing a family golf and tennis business and owning and operating a family restaurant venture, Mosaic, in southeast metro Denver. Mr. Davis has an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska, a law degree from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s in tax law from Georgetown University.

Joel D. Liffmann - Mr. Liffmann is Managing Director at Oracle Strategic Partners. Prior to joining Oracle Strategic Partners, Mr. Liffmann was the Senior Vice President of Business Development at Merck-Medco, Inc. His previous positions were as Vice President of Equity Research and later as Vice President of Corporate Finance at Drexel Burnham Lambert. Mr. Liffmann holds a degree in Business Administration from Boston University.

Ronald Brill - Mr. Brill is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and recently retired as the Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of The Home Depot Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia. He joined Home Depot at its inception in 1978 and for over 20 years has held various positions with direct responsibility for many areas of operation, including Finance, Legal, Loss Prevention, Investor Relations, Internal Audit, Human Resources, Mergers & Acquisitions, and International Development. In addition, he was a member of the Board of Directors from 1987 until May 2000. Mr. Brill is active in the community, currently serving on the Board of the High Museum of Art, as a Trustee of the Atlanta Jewish Community Center and on the Governing Board of the Woodward Academy. He recently completed a 6-year term on the Board of Trustees of Woodruff Arts Center and is currently on the Boards of the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass and Pilchuck Glass School. Mr. Brill is an ardent supporter of the arts and is an avid collector of contemporary studio glass, fiber, wood, and photography. His hobbies include snow skiing, boating, and biking.

Tom Stemberg - Mr. Stemberg is a Managing General Partner of the Highland Consumer Fund and focuses on retail and consumer services companies. He is also interested in ways technology can be applied to further impact existing businesses. Mr. Stemberg brings to bear his deep understanding of entrepreneurs, new markets, and product innovation in assisting portfolio companies in building successful and enduring companies. Prior to joining Highland, Mr. Stemberg founded Staples and served as CEO for sixteen years and Chairman for three additional years. Mr. Stemberg pioneered the office superstore industry when he wrote the business plans for Staples in 1986. He propelled Staplesą business growth through store expansion programs, a delivered office products business, growing international presence, and award-winning e-commerce operations ultimately creating a $19 billion company. Mr. Stemberg also founded Olly Shoes, a leading children's shoe retailer. Mr. Stemberg currently serves on the boards of Blue Tulip, CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX) , Guitar Center, Lululemon Athletica (Nasdaq: LULU), and PETsMART, Inc. (Nasdaq: PETM)

William Rosenzweig - Mr. Rosenzweig is a founder and managing director of Physic Ventures, a venture capital firm whose mission is to "invest in keeping people healthy." Physic Ventures works with entrepreneurs to build leading companies at the nexus of life science and lifestyle. Before founding Physic and its predecessor investment fund Great Spirit Ventures, Mr. Rosenzweig was the co-founder and CEO of The Republic of Tea, and played key leadership roles building Odwalla, Leapfrog Toys, Winetasting.com and Brand New Brands. Mr. Rosenzweig has also served on the faculty at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and London Business School where he developed and taught the MBA course in Social Entrepreneurship.
