Love this oil, packaging needs some adjustment
I love the oil itself, but there is a problem with the packaging and with the labeling on the website.
Here's the good news: We use an organic formula that does not contain DHA. I am happy to give my baby this cod liver oil for DHA instead of the chemically extracted, plant-based DHA in conventional formula. I mix 24 hours of formula at a time in a pitcher, and I add the daily dose of fish oil to the pitcher. That way each bottle has only a small amount of fish oil. Using this method I haven't had any trouble with baby rejecting the bottle. I do mix the pitcher up a little bit every time I get ready to pour a bottle since the oil tends to separate. It's still WAY easier than mixing individual bottles and adding fish oil at every feeding.
The problem with the packaging is the dropper. The dosage markings on the dropper wash away almost immediately. I followed the package instructions exactly, and I still lost my marking in two days. I do not store the dropper in the bottle or put it in the dishwasher. I rinse it immediately after use with warm water and gentle soap. Without the markings I am still able to estimate my dosage since I do the full 24 hour dosage into the pitcher at once. One full squeeze of the dropper brings the oil approximately to the 1 ml line, so that's easy to estimate. If you want to measure 0.25 or 0.5 mL, you're out of luck.
The other issue is in the website's listing of "Supplement Facts." They state there are 60 servings of 4 mL. This is incorrect. The entire bottle is 60 mL. You would only get 60 servings if you had a premie or newborn whose daily dose was 1 mL. After 11 lbs the dose goes up, and by the time you get to 4 mLs (for a 26-35 lb baby), that is only 15 servings.
