Trend-setting Portland pharmacy moves location, adds healthful offerings Celebrations at new store highlight a unique approach to wellness, and a fresh look

February 1, 2006

Boulder, Colo. (February 1, 2006) - On February 16, Portland's first pharmacy to blend conventional medicine, prescriptions and alternative treatments will open in a new, updated location. Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy's new location at 13 NW 23rd Place (formerly Elephants Deli), is across the street from the store's prior home. Continuing its mission to redefine pharmacy, the new Pharmaca location will debut the following features:

  • A compounding pharmacy offering customized prescriptions for children, pets, hormone replacement therapy and more. Designed to offer prescription dosages that are a perfect fit for the patient, compounding is a "back to the future" pharmacy offering, and is rare in the Portland market.
  • A whole new look! This pharmacy is a welcoming space where people will linger over spa skincare lines and high quality vitamins, thanks to an updated store design, completed by the Portland-based retail design firm, Vizwerks.
  • A special section devoted to personal care, including a wide array of cosmetics and beauty products with natural and organic ingredients. The new location will also feature a mini-facial treatment room so customers can experience natural skincare at its best.
  • The most knowledgeable and professional pharmacy staff in town, including pharmacists, naturopathic physicians, herbalists, acupuncturists and estheticians.

Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy opened in Portland at 2334 West Burnside in October, 2001 and has since assisted over 250,000 transactions for health-seeking shoppers.

"By taking a preventative approach to health, our staff of trained professionals is helping Portland to become a healthier place, both now and in the future," says Barry Perzow, CEO and Founder. "We've found that our Portland consumers appreciate the assistance from health practitioners who refuse to take an assembly line approach to health care."
