Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy to Open in Irvine
Innovative pharmacy to inspire preventative health care for all
BOULDER, Colo. (May 22, 2007) – Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy will open the doors of its new store in Irvine, Calif. on Friday, June 15, to create a ‘one stop shop’ for conventional and natural medicine. Blending prescription services and alternative treatments, Pharmaca will offer Irvine residents a uniquely customized pharmacy experience in a welcoming spa-like environment. The new 4,800 square foot store will be located in the University Center at 4139 Campus Drive. The opening day’s theme will be ‘Healthy Aging,’ offering customers free samples, demonstrations of natural beauty products, and the opportunity for health screenings.
According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM)[1], 36 percent of American adults aged 18 years and over use some form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Often, however, consumers must fill their prescriptions in different places, and may find it difficult to access customized services such as compounding. Recognizing the strengths of housing traditional medicine and CAM under one roof, Pharmaca has revolutionized the concept of pharmacy in an environment that emphasizes patient advocacy and preventative health care.
The new Irvine store will include the following features:
- Over 20 certified staff including pharmacists, naturopathic doctors, licensed estheticians and certified herbalists, homeopaths, and nutritionists.
- A full service pharmacy that accepts most prescription insurance plans. Pharmacists provide customer consultations on drug/herb interactions and drug nutrient depletion. Compounding services are also available for general, pediatric and veterinary prescriptions.
- A special section devoted to personal care and natural beauty, including a wide array of safe cosmetics and beauty products with natural and organic ingredients.
“Our customers in the Los Angeles area have responded enthusiastically to our preventative approach to health care,” said Barry Perzow, CEO and founder of Pharmaca. “We are looking forward to introducing the Orange County community to the benefits of traditional and natural medicine in one location, and to the unique expertise of our knowledgeable and licensed staff for all their health care needs,” he added.
In addition to ‘Healthy Aging’, Grand Opening week events will also include:
- Saturday, June 16 — Spa Day featuring free mini-facials and makeovers
- Sunday, June 17 — Father’s Day featuring health screenings and complimentary men’s multivitamins for fathers
- Monday, June 18 through Friday, June 22 — Women’s Health Week featuring a choice of gift with purchase. Pharmaca will donate 10 percent of its sales to the Women’s Pavilion at Hoag Hospital.
Pharmaca currently operates thirteen pharmacies nationwide, including a southern Calif. store in Pacific Palisades. In addition to offering a distinctive mix of products, Pharmaca also provides superior customer care and advice through the expertise of their credentialed staff.
